Visas
— There is a possibility to stay and live in the Principality of Monaco for a maximum period of three months in a year without any residency permit or VISA. During this time period, you are considered a tourist.
Based on the regulations, any person of foreign nationality who wishes to enter Monégasque territory and stay there for a period not exceeding three months must have the document (passport, travel, or identity document) required. Any travel document accepted which is valid for entry into French territory.
It does not matter whether you arrive for a one-day visit or for a longer time period of up to three months, the basic principles are the same.
Usually this three months period is enough to get a glimpse of the quality of life that the Principality of Monaco offers. You can also get a great impression of the country, the events, the people, and the whole atmosphere. If you are smart enough, you can discover many social clubs and networking places. Furthermore, you can already build up some valuable connections by the end of the third month.
Conditions required for entry and residence in the Principality for a period not exceeding three months:
- Any person of foreign nationality who wishes to enter Monégasque territory and stay there for a period not exceeding three months must have the document (passport, travel or identity document) required for entry into French territory.
- French subjects must merely be holders of the national identity card.
No other formality is required for foreigners who wish to travel to Monaco.
Many visitors use this initial three-month period to see how they can adjust their daily routines to the new life offered by Monaco. After three months, they need to make a decision whether to stay longer or not, since the Principality of Monaco requires a residence permit (Carte de Sejour or often referred as Carte de Residence) if one is willing to extend their stay for a longer period.
Resident permits are not issued to minors under the age of 16. In some cases, a travel document for a foreign minor may be issued to enable overseas travel.
If you leave Monaco permanently, you must surrender your residence permit.
